In captivity

The lifespanis 20-30 years.

It is not difficult to keep the toad.A horizontal type of terrarium is requiredfor them. The terrarium is equipped with local daytime heating (a thermal cord, a thermal mat, a downward-pointing incandescent lamp or a mirror lamp). Night heating is not necessary.

The temperature at the warm-up point during the day is up to 28°C, the total background temperature in the terrarium is 23-25° C during the day, 18-20°C - at night. In a terrarium, you can create a landscape that resembles a natural biotope, usually various snags, shelters, and plant plantsare placed.

Soil consists of the drainage layer. Its gravel is 4-5 cm, a layer of fresh earthisat least 10 cm, the keeper should put moss on top, as the toad likes to burrow in the ground during the day in captivity. If you do not grow plants, you can limit yourself, for example, to coconut substrate and sphagnum on top. A drinking bowl or pond is optional, but once a day, the terrarium should be sprayed with warm water. Keep the sphagnum constantly moist.
