Diet

Feeding mini-horses is practically no different from feeding large relatives. It is important not to overfeed a miniature animal. If you feed an animal oats in large quantities, it may have an allergic reaction, manifested by such unpleasant symptoms as itching, eczema on the skin. Hay is fed to the horse twice a day-in the morning and in the evening.

It is allowed to add vitamins and minerals. It is recommended to give a horse a few carrots and an apple daily.

You need to water the horses three times a day in summer, and twice in winter. Usually water them before giving concentrated feed. In winter, Falabellas like to eat snow, but this should be treated carefully if the horses are kept in the city, because there is a lot of harmful substances in the snow.

Reproduction

The main difference between the Falabella horse breed and other horses is that the foaling period is not 11 months, but 13 months. During the first year of life, the foal grows to the desired height and degree of independence. And by the age of three, a young horse is considered fully developed.

The first minutes of life, the foal learns a new environment, does not recognize its mother and begins to search for her by smell. If during this period of acquaintance with the world there is a person near it, in the future the foal will perceive it as a member of its family. Passing horses can easily attract the interest of the kid. Therefore, a vigilant mother is always near and scares away any animals that approach her child. To meet a new resident of the stable, adults start games with the baby, preferring to make friends with him. The mother's vigilant care of a small foal lasts only a month, and after 7-10 months, she stops feeding it with milk and pushes it away from her udder with her hooves.

Falabella horses often live to be forty or more.

Care

Despite its modest size, Falabella is still a horse and should not be kept in a cramped apartment. It needs fresh grass and space to walk. If you are the owner of a private house, then the mini-horse will be the perfect pet for you. As a stable, a small extension will do, and you can arrange a walk in the backyard.
